THE 2019 Ryan Bennett Award

Dustin Poirier

NAMED FOR THE LATE broadcaster and MMA journalist, the Ryan Bennett Award seeks to recognize the MMA fighter or coach who best displays an excellence of character as a positive force in the community.

The inaugural recipient is UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier, whose non-profit The Good Fight Foundation has raised money for causes ranging from playgrounds for children with disabilities to benefitting an orphanage in Uganda, among others. Through it all, Poirier has garnered the support of friends and foes inside the cage, bringing the MMA community together in the service of a greater good.

For this, as well as for consistently conducting himself as a sportsman of the highest order, the MMAJA salutes Poirier with this award.
